SCATS had EIGHT of our boys competing at Future Stars National Championships this past weekend at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs across all three age divisions! In addition to being the largest showing by any gym club at Future Stars National Championships this year, this is a record in itself for SCATS and a seldom matched showing by any gym club in the nation in a given season. The boys kept the momentum they’d built through 2018 and had an incredible showing at the competition.
A whopping FOUR SCATS guys qualified for the Future Stars National Team: Jared and Ami, who placed 9th and 10th, respectively, in their division, Drew, who placed 18th of 38 in the nation, and Finley who also landed 9th all around.
We want to congratulate all of our Future Stars on a hard fought season as they wind the year down and prepare for regular competition season in the new year: Ami, Jared, Julian, Drew, Tommy, Misha, Wade, and Finley, our hats are off to you gentlemen! We couldn’t be more proud and look forward to your progress and that of all your teammates.
A little information about the Future Stars Program:
Future Stars is an athlete development and education program created and sanctioned by USA Gymnastics. It consists of six age groups for each year of ages 8 through 13, wherein the boys perform selected skills and compulsory routines on the six men’s events plus trampoline, strength and flexibility evaluations. The 8-9 year old division participates up to the Regional level while the 10, 11, 12 and 13 year old divisions can qualify to the National level, which our rock stars here have done.
